Dr. M. M. Amjad Hussain started his career as a doctor in the Pakistan Army Medical Corps in 1950. Three years later he left the army and started business in the port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh. In 1956, he set up an export company called “Pakistan Kapok Mills Limited” in Chittagong and started exporting Kapok fiber to America. Now he established a textile company called Alhaj Textile Mills Limited, which was the largest textile company in Bangladesh at that time. But he set up a jute mill called Alhaj Jute Mills Limited. Dr. M. M. Amjad Hussain was the founder and managing director of two textile and jute mills.
