The Bangladesh National Cadet Corps was formed by an official order dated 23 March 1989, merging the University Officers Training Corps, Bangladesh Cadet Corps and Junior Cadet Corps. At present its head office is located at Sector 6, Uttara, Dhaka. The National Cadet Corps consists of 6 Army Regiments, 1 Air Force and 1 Naval Regiment under one Director. The regiments are: Ramna Regiment (Greater Dhaka and Tangail District); Mainamati Regiment (Greater Comilla, Noakhali and Sylhet districts); Karnafuli Regiment (Greater Chittagong and Chittagong Hill Tracts District); Sundarbans Regiment (Greater Khulna and Barisal District); Mahasthan Regiment (Greater Rajshahi, Pabna and Bogra districts); Jangalbari Regiment (Greater Mymensingh District); Teesta Regiment (Greater Rangpur and Dinajpur Districts).

The National Cadet Corps provides military training to young people as a support force in the country’s defense system, forms a second-tier resistance force to counter external enemy attacks, and conducts their activities as a volunteer in disaster response.
